Primary Program
For our K to grade 3s, each school offers a unique configuration to meet the needs of their children and community. Our primary learning environments are exciting places to be - creative, enthusiastic children and professional, caring adults working together to develop a love for learning. We focus on well being and belonging, exploration and creativity, social responsibility and diversity, and foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.
Early Literacy & Numeracy
Supporting your child's learning starts with understanding what they are learning at school and how their skills develop over time.
The B.C. Ministry of Education and Child Care has released new parent and caregiver resources to help families better understand early literacy and numeracy from kindergarten to grade 3.
These easy-to-read resources include:
- Early Literacy Screening: Information about why early literacy matters, what literacy screening involves, and how it helps teachers identify and support your child's learning needs.
- A Pathway to Proficiency - Literacy and Numeracy: Grade-specific guides outlining what children are expected to learn, the foundational skills they develop, and examples of what proficient learning looks like at each grade level.
These resources are designed to help families understand their child's learning journey and support meaningful conversations with teachers about progress and next steps.
